I'm SEW Crazy!

Taking a breath here between projects to post the last baby quilt I made for a precious little girl in PA. They received it today, so I can finally post a photo of it.

I did not waste any time getting started on the next one. I've had two purple jelly rolls lingering in my stash, and I decided to try a Jelly Roll Race. This is a real test if you know me because you put all the strips in piles, and then just sew them end to end for the first cycle. Then you start half-ing it and sewing the halves together until you get the right width for your piece. So I had no idea what it was going to look like. Since there was no "plan" and no "laying out" of the piece it was a huge leap of faith for a pretty anxious person.

Putting my new serger to work, I pieced the entire thing by serger. So nice, it irons like a dream.  I did this in its entirety in one morning. I literally sat down to sew and did not get up until I walked away with a completed quilt top.

I'll say as far as the pattern, it's very pleasing to the eye. I remember thinking that since it was a heavily purple group of fabrics, it would be great no matter what I did with it.

Let's Try Something New....

So I love my Brother CS-6000i sewing machine. It does so many things, and I have made some beautiful things with it. Here are some of the baby quilts I have made. In fact, I am working on one right now. I can't post pictures of it yet, SHH, it's a surprise!

This one went to Tennessee, and I just found out yesterday that they are expecting a boy.

These two pink and mint green ones, a cotton and a flannel version, went to a little girl in Florida.

This pink and gray one stayed right here in NC with a little girl.

This one went all the way to Michigan to a little boy there.

Machine quilted and machine washable. I always mean for them to be used and loved, taken in cars. Handy for diaper changes. I found the most amazing quilting stitch on my machine.

Not to mention some other fancy things I have done.

I made this Halloween dress for Holly many years ago. Every little girl should have one of these, once in her life. 💖💖💖

As per usual, I have many projects underway. There is always a basket of yarn by my chair. I also have a diamond dot picture going (a fall scene). I'm also working on N-scale model buildings for the Farmer's train layout.

So of course, now it's time to try something new!

So first things first... record the factory default settings. Or at least how it came in the box. It came with a pretty good manual, and thank goodness, preloaded with thread. Which I thought was great, but it only took me a couple of days to burn through those half-size spools. Luckily I had the presence of mind to go ahead and order some cones of thread, 3000 yards, or some craziness... let's see how long they last.

I can't even begin to wrap my mind around all of the things this baby can do. blind hems, rolled hems, ruffles, gathers. I can't even......... Thank goodness for Pinterest. I re-threaded the machine with the black thread, and boy you have to follow the instructions WORD FOR WORD! I found a video on pinterest that was extremely well done, that I was able to follow and have success right away.

I have the brothers set up on my sewing console, both plugged in, threaded, and ready.  ! I'm ridiculously excited to MAKE SOMETHING!✂✂✂

Random Critter Pictures

Roxie has a favorite snooze location in the Motorhome.  it's a deep dog bed, tucked into a plastic basket. The basket gets wedged between our two seats. She sleeps in all sorts of positions. Feet straight up, nose buried, paws hanging out. Sometimes she'll reach up and put her paws on John.

This is the best though, look how big her ears look, and see the sleepy, scrunchy, face -- so cute
Earlier today we parked at wally world so John could pick up some fuel additive. While there, we nuked some breakfast sandwiches and relaxed for a bit. I turned on some music and pulled out my crochet. I'm sitting there with my feet up and I hear something walking on the roof of the motorhome. I look up at my skylight, (mind you, not ten minutes ago I decided to open the shade on it to let some sunshine in - by default it is closed against sun rot) and what do I see? FEET!

Sea gull feet to be exact.
He just stood there for the longest time. I got to thinking I didn't want him to hang around and poop on my skylight. So I knocked on the glass.  He looked right at me and stayed there for another minute or so.
Goofy bird!

We have just now crossed the border into Florida.

We plan to stop in the St Augustine area, one of my favorite places. I'm hoping to take a walk on the beach!

Happy Holidays!

John and I are off on another trip.  We are headed to Florida for a couple of weeks to visit Tim and my parents.

Before we left though, my Christmas cactuses put on a show. The rest of the year they just look kind of creepy, but when the bloom, the flowers are gorgeous?

Just look at the color!

The Hutch has Arrived in Port Orchard, Washington

We have been storing John's parents hutch for Karol and Andy. For quite some time it was in our den. After some research, I found a shipping company that offered white glove service.
The shipping company picked it up, packed it for shipping cross country and set it on it's way to the great state of Washington. We had no idea when it would arrive.

Friday, October 16th, John and I hopped on a plane and headed west. Look what we found when we got out here!
It looks great with Karol's bold wall color.
Karol had it set up with china and crystal and it looks so pretty.
We were so glad to see it get here safely, and it will be well loved.

Somebody wants to go too!

Roxie does not want to be left behind. She watched me pack her food, toys, and treats and decided to hop in with them.

She has been getting some training, and passed her trainers requirements - so all her travel forms a filled out and ready to go.

Today she got a bath so she's nice and fresh and comfy.

.... And away we go!

The New Bathroom Floor Is Installed!

We have made progress upstairs! A beautiful new floor has been installed, the exact one I wanted.
They did a great job.
My white rugs look great.
So pleased with this.

I actually was thinking ahead and had him measure the master bedroom when he first came out. That way when I'm ready to undertake that, they have the measurements and I can just go pick out carpet. I'm seriously considering replacing it.
