I'm SEW Crazy!

Taking a breath here between projects to post the last baby quilt I made for a precious little girl in PA. They received it today, so I can finally post a photo of it.

I did not waste any time getting started on the next one. I've had two purple jelly rolls lingering in my stash, and I decided to try a Jelly Roll Race. This is a real test if you know me because you put all the strips in piles, and then just sew them end to end for the first cycle. Then you start half-ing it and sewing the halves together until you get the right width for your piece. So I had no idea what it was going to look like. Since there was no "plan" and no "laying out" of the piece it was a huge leap of faith for a pretty anxious person.

Putting my new serger to work, I pieced the entire thing by serger. So nice, it irons like a dream.  I did this in its entirety in one morning. I literally sat down to sew and did not get up until I walked away with a completed quilt top.

I'll say as far as the pattern, it's very pleasing to the eye. I remember thinking that since it was a heavily purple group of fabrics, it would be great no matter what I did with it.
